After two months of hard work and great anxiety, on the afternoon of 23 May, the cargo train restarted circulation in Nacala-Nampula section.
The section was destroyed in early February due to heavy rains that hit the Nampula province during the first quarter of the year. The replacement work of the railway took place under the management of the Northern Development Corridor company.
The works, which began in April, were in charge of two companies: South African Constrol who was in charge of infrastructure and CR20G China, responsible for the superstructure. The works consisted of excavation and replacement of the aqueduct and the line in the 11 and 25 Km, which were the two points destroyed by the rains.
Normally in the interrupted line, circulates monthly 150 trains carrying more than 45 tons of various cargo in and out of the country.
