Rehabilitation projects of Cuamba-Lichinga line

About the project


The line is located in Mozambique to rehabilitate the northern province of Niassa, from Cuamba to Lichinga, the provincial capital. The extension of the railway is 262 km not including secondary lines. There are three stations to highlight: Metande, Itepela and Lichinga, and 14 halts.

Rehabilitation of Lichinga train station


The rehabilitation of the station was completed in middle of 2012 and remains in good working order, and one of the main goals of rapid rehabilitation, attend the launching ceremony of the first stone of the works of rehabilitation of the Cuamba-Lichinga line.

Rehabilitation of carriages


In December 2014 the CDN began the rehabilitation of 10 carriages of the third class that will serve to transport passengers Cuamba-Lichinga route, which will soon be implemented after finishing the work of rehabilitation, which is scheduled for second semester of 2016.
